With over ten years of experience in teaching and research, my work is situated at the intersection of prison sociology and critical criminology.
Over the course of my academic career, I have taught undergraduate and postgraduate courses, engaged in scholarly research and academic writings, and contributed to curricular development besides other engagements. I have presented my work at national and international academic forums.
My scholarship is interdisciplinary in nature, bringing together perspectives from sociology, criminology, cultural studies, and media sociology. I study how prisons operate and also examine the prison subculture through deprivations model. My work seeks to provide more effective approaches to prison studies by bridging the gap between theoretical criminology and sociological studies of prisons, shifting the focus from punishment to social mechanisms that drive prison expansion.
